Today I had the pleasure of leading the macro invertebrates group at the Fernhill wetlands research trip. The Merlins do this trip several times throughout the year so that they can monitor and record data. After this, they analyze their findings and tell the professionals at Clean Water Services what they found. We found several nymphs, two tadpoles, and some eggs that we thought might have held fish or tadpoles! It was so cool to be a part of this amazing hands-on learning. It was definitely a first hand demonstration on the impact of place-based fieldwork! Amazing!
